Another Week Gone

Another week has passed us by. I am incredibly excited to have been granted our "summer hours" in the office, rewarding us with office closure at 2:30 through Labor Day! It sure makes Friday's nice to come home to Brandon and Landon and get a jump start on the weekends.

Saturday morning we had furniture delivered from Andreas. We had ordered a new recliner. Mom and Dad got us a table for our foyer as our house warming gift. We also ordered our dream Grandfather Clock. When we got married we knew that a Grandfather clock is something that we really wanted and would one day have a place for in a new home. That time is now so we finally pulled our wedding funds from our savings account and put them to good use. A great 5 year anniversary gift to us (a couple of months early)! We love all of our pieces!!

Sunday we hosted a luncheon with Mom & her college girl friends to help celebrate her retirement. It was a great surprise to her and it's always fun to get them together. We also went to a college graduation party for a neighborhood girl that has been baby sitting Landon. To complete the weekend we celebrated with all of "Mav-aliers Nation" as the Dallas Mavericks beat the Miami Heat to win the NBA Championship!

Brandon had vacation time all weekend so it was wonderful to have him home!

Dinner with Friends

Wednesday night we went to dinner with three other of our neighborhood family friends. 8 adults and 6 children under 4 years old. Our neighbor's family owns a restaurant in Tallmadge and invited us all to attend. Dinner was less than relaxing and we all knew that it wouldn't be. However, it was a great time and we all look forward to doing it all again.

Trying something new

I am going to try something different. While I realize that everyone wants to see pictures, that's not always feasible for me. So, I at least want to keep you informed of what we have going on so I will try this approach for the time being.

We celebrated Landon's 2nd birthday on May 16. The time has flown by! He's a very energetic, fast moving toddler! He has a smile that melts our hearts, facial expressions that make us laugh , "OOOOO" that he says to anything that exictes him (which is a lot), Hugs that make us feel warm and giggles that make us laugh too. All of which I LOVE! I love every moment that I get with him.

A year ago at this time we are getting settled in our summertime apartment while construction began on our house. I find myself saying this so often, but I truly don't know were time goes. Unbelieveable.

This weekend we were home to celebrate Mom's retirment from teaching 35 years. We enjoyed a motorcycle ride through the beautiful countryside. A dip in the pool at Ed & Susan's. Some down home relaxation and a high school graduation party.

Hard to Believe

It's so hard for me to believe that 5 years ago today I moved back to Ohio from Indiana. Oh how time flies!

Playing in the Basement

We are making the most of playing in our basement this winter. Landon has discovered my high school softball helmet and it's a big hit!

Surgery is Over!

Landon did really well with his surgery. He woke easily in the morning so we could leave by 6:20a for the hospital. We checked-in, got his patient bracelet, his hospital scrubs covered in tigers and bright colors and played in the waiting room. As we waited and played (thank goodness for the toys in the outpatient waiting room of a children's hospital) Shay and Julie came to visit and brought Landon a blankie and stuffed animals! A nurse came to explain Landon's procedure to him (as much as he could comprehend) and it was nice for Brandon and I too to know exactly what he would go through. He went back for surgery right on time at 9 and we were called to talk to the Dr. post surgery at 9:20. By 9:30 Landon was waking from anesthesia and ready to see us. He didn't cry as much as we thought he would which was great! He went through two quick stages of recovery and we were on the road by 10:20.

After a drive-through at Wendy's (we had to keep our promise!) and a Frosty snack at home, Landon was down for a 4 hour nap. He woke well rested and ready to go! Our little man was back to running all over the house and playing like usual! What a trooper!

I certainly would blog more if I didn't always feel obligated to download pictures. I can sometimes catch a free moment while eating lunch at my desk to put a few sentences together.

Snow, ice and freezing rain have made work travel interesting (and LONG) this week, but so goes to say for our entire state and large part of our nation.

We are gearing up for Landon's surgery on Monday, Feb 7... tubes in his ears. We are crossing our fingers that this will relieve much of the pain, discomfort and frequent ear infections that he has had since the middle of October. A simple outpatient surgery that I am sure will result in a Wendy's Frosty!

Brandon is adjusting to his new work schedule, 7p-7a. The bonus to this schedule is more days off, less day care and more evenings together as a family. So far, so good!
